Living up here in Canada, I have to wonder what the big deal is.
We have no abortion law in Canada. The decision is solely between a woman and her doctor.
Abortion rates are lower now than they were when abortion was illegal. Abortion is legal right up until birth, yet the only late-term abortions are those that are medically necessary.
There is no free-for-all: women are not running out willy-nilly getting abortions, nor are psychopathic doctors encouraging women to abort.
I find it insane that this could ever be anything but a medical decision made exclusively between a woman and her doctor.
- upupandup 4y agoI don't think its fair to just compare US to Canada, Canada is a much smaller population and manageable situation than US. It's not without its faults, our insane taxation policies are acceptable by society, it would not translate into relection for politicians in the US to push for what we have here. Having said that I am only okay with abortion when all other options are non-pursuable which covers many cases. What I am not okay is, people waiting until their baby is breathing inside their wombs to abort. This is where I have an issue because it is very much a life after 3 months. All in all, I think Canada will follow suit as is the typical pattern. English speaking parts of it simply look to the US for guidance as it lacks a culture of its own, compared to French speaking parts.
