Not an anime fan, but some of my brothers are, and years ago the times they were watching it was the time I was supposed to be sleeping (opposite schedules are great) and it just ruined it for me... Half of the shit they watched seems like it was written by some timid teenage boy with a romance fantasy. If that's what you like, it's not really my concern, but I found them too cringey and repetitive in a way that could challenge Hollywood. There were some ok ones, I didn't mind a lot of mainstream stuff or things that had a particularly interesting or unique premise, but for most the plots were just too easily predictable (an issue that some shows seems to have in general regardless of genre).
