You need to host it, maintain it, update it, secure it, back it up, monitor it, ensure it has enough resources to run smoothly and a million other things. Most businesses, regardless of sector, don't have the resources or desire to do that. Many rely on shitty MSPs selling junk and misconfiguring it, what makes you think they would be capable of self-hosting anything?
