Besides the feeling that you're doing something good for the environment, EVs do have some genuinely nice advantages, including much less maintenance, being easier to drive, having better acceleration and traction (you can drive different motors and wheels at different rates), and being able to charge at home. Range can be an issue for some people when going on long trips (> 300 miles), but the technology will keep improving. I'm sure we'll see EVs with 10 to 15 minute charge times before the end of the decade. It would be a huge competitive advantage to have ultrafast charging, so it's an obvious thing to optimize for.
