Hi there!
Because I want to make my own version of discord/slack/guilded, except not server based, but call based. Gotta start somewhere :)
Discords tagline was "it's time to ditch skype and teamspeak". The tagline is an homage to that. Dethrone.gg is a new approach thats all.
Thanks for the comment :)
- Mandatum 4y agoCall based, like iMessage, Messenger, WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram? Or do you mean call-based like when you do a multi-person DM call in Slack, Discord, etc?
- JarriusMadeIt 4y agoBy call based I mean like multi-person DM call. Like a VC channel in a discord server(where you can drop-in/drop-out at any time)
- glanzwulf 4y agoWhat's the advantage of it being call based instead of server based? For example, me and my friends we have our own discord server. We have some rooms and a general. We chat there and when are about to game we join one of the call rooms we already have. If someone wants to join from the group they can see us in the call and jump in. How are you making this experience better? As for it being a homage, I get it, but personally I'm looking for the why, you know?
- JarriusMadeIt 4y agoHi! The main advantage of being call based is that you wouldn't be bound to a single server. Having VCs behind servers is an extra step. Taking them out, and joining your friends' session rather than joining and making a discord server for every single friend group you have. In essence I'm recreating the lobby experience from multiplayer games such as PUBG/Fortnite/L4D2 etc... where you hop in, and boom you have a session ready to go, and friends can see you, and join you directly(Not limited by being in the same server, all you have to be are friends). I need to refine the marketing website to reflect that, but I feel like you would understand what I'm going for if you gave it a shot. Thank you though, you make a very good point.
