I tried "make tinyconfig" (https://tiny.wiki.kernel.org/ https://tiny.wiki.kernel.org/) and I got bzImage to just under 500 kilobytes. Now, that is only the bare minimum and you would still probably want stuff like amd64, but it does give a good baseline reference.
