- marcodiego 4y agoAlthough people usually cite the qnx demo int these threads, I'm much more impressed today this: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28515025 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28515025
- Keyframe 4y agoI remember when it was actual. It was impressive then as well!
- GavinAnderegg 4y agoI was just about to post about this as well. I still don't know how I ended up with this disk, but got shipped to high school-aged me. I was blown away at the time!
- sedatk 4y agoI remember QNX floppy blowing my mind even back in the 90's. This was when Linux could load the kernel and the root fs at least with two floppies.
- cubano 4y agoQNX was/is simply amazing! Talk about an OS that should have utterly destroyed DOS and all other CLI-based OSs. I first encountered it at an oil-terminal company I worked at in the 80's and couldn't believe the features packed into such a small footprint. It's real-time event handling was top-notch, and it was stable as all-hell...in a sane world it would have dominated the market.
- mixmastamyk 4y agoDOS was on the way out by the mid 90s. Windows had all the software, other commercial OSs didn’t have a chance. Mac hung on and rebounded ~15 years later.

I believe Radio Shack sold it on a cartridge as well. https://microware.com/ https://microware.com/
