Not only did I ask for a raise, I also asked for a team. What they gave me were code camp graduates with 1-2 years experience. We were building a bank based upon a highly complex microservice architecture running on Kubernetes and other complex software. The team they gave me was essentially useless. I asked to hire more senior developers and they said it wasn't in the budget.
