Interesting that IP rights on a cartoon character should last 5x longer than IP rights on a piece of technology. Why?

- kevinmchugh 4y agoAre we talking about different categories of IP rights? Patents are shorter because it's economically useful to have more people use them sooner. The amount of economic activity lost by people not being able to sell Steamboat Willy on a DVD in a bargain bin is pretty low. Same with the Steamboat Willy sequels we've never gotten
