Eventually all tech companies recognize their cash cow[0] and don't frantically try a bunch of splinter projects in-case their main gig fails. Once their main gig is steady and reliable there is less room for R&D and experimentation. This is why startups need traction from the get-go instead of 'hoping' and by mere luck that they succeed.
