The supposed relationship between abortion and crime seems like the sort of result 19th century eugenicists were hoping for. But it seems like BS to me; the 70s and 80s crime wave supposedly stopped by Roe v Wade was predominantly in urban areas, which were exposed to the most traffic fumes. Lead fumes. The relationship between chronic lead exposure and reduced IQ and impulse control is settled science. The abortion/crime hypothesis relies on weaker evidence and has less explanatory power. Why are we wasting time on the eugenics argument for abortion legalization when much better arguments for legalization are abundant?
