Not use telegram and not advice it to anybody
- IronWolve 4y agoI want to be safe, so I only use tiktok /s
- sharedptr 4y agoThe alternative is to shift to other services that almost no one uses or requires technical knowledge to setup or keep talking to your friends and family. My parents cant even use Whatsapp properly let alone some jabberlike thing
- acgh213 4y agoTelegram isn't foolproof, nor is it a secure app "BY DEFAULT". And that is a big point overall. Telegram has been known to not share information with the (local national spy agency) unless you're actively promoting violence. Its default chats are not encrypted, while its secret chats are. you can't access private chats on other devices, yet, whatsapp's default encryption shares its keys across devices.
- 2Gkashmiri 4y agothese are stupid arguments really. >Russia has huge demand in intelligence operations over the world, and with telegram they know a lot. With this information they can get together facts and make legends for their spies. For example - know who making fake docs, or who dead recently and take his/her identity. Huge field for malicious activity in foreign countries. what does this mean? >Telegram knows your social relations with other people, who is your friend or family member. so does facebook/nstagram/whatsapp so what? >After almost a century of making own people worse as a choice, war crimes, lie and disrespect to humanity, russia still pushing it's agenda worldwide, growing worst things in people. anti-russia propanda, no real meat. >Want register it without phone, just like using app or website on pc? Well, wish you luck, its almost impossible same is true for whatsapp and the most beloved signal, so what? >You can be kidnapped in third world shithole for example, because this information is enough to use. Soviet Union supported terrorist organisations in middle east, sent them weapons and money. Its just a part of hybrid warfare, tool to make opponents vulnerable, spreading rumors, fakes, crimes. Protect your society and security, its price is very very high. uh, anyone remember iran contra affair or the thousands of times US government has literally armed terrorists because those people oppose a legitimate government that US wants out? what if russia is doing the same >What to use instead of telegram? I don't know. Try TOX over Tor or jabber over tor for illegal things (don't forget to use tails os, because this apps saves chats to disk). no discussion about matrix/IRC/XMPP or even encrypted email, apparently this post is about people doing illegal things
- kylehotchkiss 4y agoThis whole thing seems more like frustration with Russia than any concerning claims. I get it, Russia’s not a friendly nation to much of the audience here, but better to just focus on that specially. Telegram is currently domiciled in Dubai not Russia ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Even if Russia is collecting information at this scale, what are they going to do with it? The amount of normal people in the world with Russian interests (trade, secrets, etc) isn’t significant and Russia’s intel services apparently couldn’t inform the gov how badly they’d fail trying to take over entirety of Ukraine. If a gov really wanted intel on a person, they’d go with Pegasus or whatever the RU equiv is since it wouldn’t allow location to be disabled.
