>That is gross incompetence. Back in another life I was once an intern at a well known, but past-its-prime tech company. The company announced a (1st time ever) layoff in the morning and I got see the guards carry the boxes from cubicles. The VP of our department (responsible for much of the core technology of our products) sent out an email at around 11AM telling everyone we need to focus and that there won't be any more cut to our department, since we are central to our products. Come 2PM and all of us received an email saying that the VP has resigned from his position effectively immediately. Imagine what this does to the employee moral.
