Ask HN: Are Audio Room Apps Dead?
Clubhouse, Twitter Spaces, and countless other audio room apps popped up during the hype. What happened to them?
- PaulHoule 4y agoI think video livestreaming eats a lot of that market. For instance there are a few video producers who make a daily Ukraine report like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cTRfVZ2riI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cTRfVZ2riI and it may be the future of news because the NBC Nightly News isn't covering Ukraine the way it did at the beginning of the war. I don't ever tune into that livestream because it is at the wrong time of day for me, but it is recorded so I watch (but mostly listen to it) every day later on. I don't everybody realizes what a juggernaut Youtube is. My son and I were talking about how we listen to many Youtube channels while we do something else: even though https://www.youtube.com/c/Defunctland https://www.youtube.com/c/Defunctland has great visuals it is also good background sound.
