I think calling waylaid malicious is insane. What’s malicious and ignorant is this comment. I’m pretty sure wayland just follows the small core with plugins strategy. If you prefer the kitchen sink way then whatever. There are official extensions to the protocol here https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland-protocols https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland-protocols and there is also the Wlroots library that can be used to implement a compositor. So, no, those smaller projects are not being “persecuted”
