I'm not sure if a movement like this is about being logical so much as making a statement about pollution in general but I feel that going after cars of oil executives would send the best message
- serverlessmom 4y agoI agree with you, this would really suck for a poor family to have to deal with
- TinkersW 4y agoI mean they are just deflating the tire, you can pump it back up with a bike pump
- bsagdiyev 4y agoIf the weight of the car on the tire sidewall doesn't cause damage... then they need new tires or risk a blowout. And a bike pump? I'm not so sure.
- smileysteve 4y agoA bike foot pump takes a standard tire about 10 pumps per psi for standard SUVs. A bike foot pump is also extremely portable and can fit in the back of a sedan. I use this for a quick pump for boat trailer tires (a few more than 10 pumps to get to the higher 65 psi), family SUVs, and my sports car (at scca race events)
- throwaway0a5e 4y ago>If the weight of the car on the tire sidewall doesn't cause damage. Myths like this get blown way out of proportion because of reddit type hand wringing and feigning of concern for virtue points and similiar behaviors that are common online. If a tire sits deflated and not driven on for a couple of days and then gets aired back up it's almost certainly going to be fine. Sure, it could be damaged but the incidences of this are so rare that at the individual level it is not really worth worrying about. >And a bike pump? I'm not so sure. Yeah. That would not be a fun time.
- jwsteigerwalt 4y agoSeems like it would work, but it does not. A bike pump will overheat and ruin the seals before you can get a fully deflated auto tire up to pressure. I’ve lost a good pump thinking I could do it.
- refurb 4y agoYes, going after the leaders who provide the main energy source for your country sounds like a brilliant idea. You should ask Germany how that's going.
- lotsofpulp 4y agoNot really. Going after the politicians who oppose increasing fossil fuel taxes and the voters who support not increasing fossil fuel taxes would send the message. Which is what the group is doing by using large vehicles commonly used for leisure as a proxy.
