Samsung beats TSMC to production of 3nm chips
- Sakos 4y agoAll I need to know is what their yields are like.
- Comevius 4y agoDespite these articles I really doubt they are ready for mass production. The yield is not expected to be high, but they like being first. There is a learning curve to GAAFET, and although TSMC clearly plays the game at another level Samsung has Intel now to compete with. https://www.thelec.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=4096 https://www.thelec.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=4096
- incahoots 4y agoDoes Samsung even have the ability to output more than TSMC? I realize Samsung is a global giant of a company but my understanding is their yield is tiny which is why only certain countries get Samsung chip Galaxys whilst others end up with Snapdragons.
- skavi 4y agoThe current generation of Snapdragons uses a Samsung process. IIRC, the reason Qualcomm is used in the US and China is for the modems.
- wmf 4y agoSamsung 3GAE is probably worse than TSMC N4. Nothing to see here.
