I'm actually from UK and travel a lot in the EU. Having been in a police station in Portugal they'd probably laugh at you for getting your wallet ripped off and run you to the airport. And then there's the smaller towns in Germany. They don't even accept cards out there yet. Cash or fuck off. I think this is far off the status quo across Europe.
