Ask HN: What if upmodding was different from saving a story?
The triangle button next to a submission serves two purposes:
* upmodding
* saving a story
It's obvious that in many situations we want to save a story that is a good and on-topic story. But what if it's not the case?
How often it happens that you save something quirky but you don't want it to have a lot of points? If we would separate upmodding and saving a story would that improve HN content?
- edanm 15y agoIt took me a long time to even discover that upmodding saved a story. I'm guessing a large part of the HN readership doesn't know about this feature.
- zeratul 15y agoYou might be right. I clicked at my username and there is was: saved stories. I find it very useful. Here is URL for those who don't know about this feature: http://news.ycombinator.com/saved?id=your_username http://news.ycombinator.com/saved?id=your_username
