Tristan knows perfectly that France did everything in its power to deploy renewables in the worst possible way (so as to prove that we must always rely on nuclear energy and support France's nuclear giants). We have a word in French "foisennement" (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foisonnement#En_.C3.A9nerg.C3.A9tique https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foisonnement#En_.C3.A9nerg.C3....): although it may not be possible to rely only on renewables without storage, it's also easy not to have such intermittent sources. Wind and solar compensate one another quite well when the grid is designed for that. As we speak, one out of two French nuclear plant is offline. We had to restart coal plants recently. Even RTE (>50% owned by EDF, a nuclear giant) says going 100% renewables by 2050 in France is both feasible and affordable: https://www.rte-france.com/analyses-tendances-et-prospectives/bilan-previsionnel-2050-futurs-energetiques https://www.rte-france.com/analyses-tendances-et-prospective...
