It's just a university press release. They exist to wildly overhype every mildly interesting project in hopes of getting attention and support for the institution in question. Now that HN get far fewer "random university student's silly CAD design project treated as a real, upcoming invention" submissions this last decade or so, they're one of my least-favorite types of submissions to HN.
