It really shouldn't be. It doesn't take long or much effort to send a quick boilerplate email saying they're not hiring you.

- Clubber 4y agoYes, this has been going on since at least the early 2000s. It's really a dumb thing to do for the hiring company, particularly if there is more than a few days of contact. The person they want to hire just assumes they are being ghosted and immediately starts looking for additional opportunities, which equates to more competition for the hiring company. Had the original company stayed in contact, or it was common practice to stay in contact wether it's a hire or no hire, the hiring companies wouldn't have to deal with the extra competition created by no contact.
- mathverse 4y agoIt is especially bad cuz i sent a follow up email asking them about the status etc. no reply whatsoever
- mateo411 4y agoYou probably don't want to work at a company that behaves that way.
- spoonjim 4y agoIt shouldn't be, but it is. So the lesson when a company ghosts you shouldn't be one of personal insult (although it's hard to avoid that feeling), it should be "that company is poorly led and/or managed."
