as long as they're looking through a camera lens
- cratermoon 4y agoThis article makes it sound like they invented infrared photography[1], but they obviously did not. The paper linked is simply about a different and novel way to do it with mid-IR. The press release claims it's cheaper, but of course infrared-sensitive film has been around a long time, and some digital cameras can do infrared. Although Kodak discontinued their infrared film offering, Rollei[2] and Ilford[2] still make it. Edit to add: the paper also talks about IR wavelengths beyond the sensitivity of current consumer technologies and film; that's novel, too. 1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infrared_photography https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infrared_photography 2 https://www.rolleianalog.com/rollei-infrared/?lang=en https://www.rolleianalog.com/rollei-infrared/?lang=en 3 https://www.ilfordphoto.com/shooting-infared-extended-red-film-guide/ https://www.ilfordphoto.com/shooting-infared-extended-red-fi...
