I've always exclusively used Macs with multiple monitors (I even used to take them in my Computer Science classes more than a decade ago and use the monitors in the CS labs) and never had any issues. Currently, I have a 27inch iMac 2020 with a BENQ monitor (whilst I await for my new M1 Macbook Pro to be shipped) and works flawlessly. I even have my PS5 on my desk plugged into the monitor and can switch between the sources and experience no glitches. I'm not sure what could be the cause of your issues but I don't think it's macs. Perhaps something else is going on with your setup?
