Some people have already mentioned several problems with the article, but there's a thing that's not really discussed that I'd like to know more about: how many of the people on the "creation" side of the Long Tail i.e. the movie makers, the musicians, the writers, are actually making a living out of finding their own small niche? I have to imagine there can't be that many.
- rossdavidh 4y agoI think the crux of the matter is, how many creators were making a living before? Also not that many. We're comparing one business model that was broken (for the vast majority of creators) to another that is also broken. It seems abundantly clear to me that there are way more TV shows and music acts with global audience than there were before. This doesn't mean they make a decent living.
