“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
There’s nothing in there about Reddit making moderation policies
- aqouta 4y agoYou're conflating 1A with free speech. Free speech is the principle that inspires 1A but it's a larger concept and the same reasoning applies to things like reddit. This whole "don't let you political opponents speak or coordinate because you happen to have the power to stop them" is the weapon of a tyrant, one of these days a real tyrant will seize the reins of these platforms and show us all how they're really used.
- Philadelphia 4y agoParent comment is about “Americans touting their free speech.” First Amendment is obviously what that refers to. The Internet doesn’t have a limit on the number of web sites. You want to say something, get a $2/month shared hosting plan and post HTML, or lease fiber and run your own server farm, or do any number of things in between.
