I’d say that this is just internal platform / infrastructure support, aimed at making the whole organisation be more effective. It’s absolutely adding a lot of value to the organisation, it’s just not visible from the outside. But saying that “it’s too many steps removed from the value” appears to be a misrepresentation of the value it adds.
