Not sure how these orgs do it but the system design book by Alex Xu uses timestamp + dataCenterID + machineId + sequence number that is reset every millisecond.

Not sure how these orgs do it but the system design book by Alex Xu uses timestamp + dataCenterID + machineId + sequence number that is reset every millisecond. This integer is then converted to base62.
