I don't begrudge a game pretentiousness (hello Metal Gear Solid). I do begrudge a game that has nothing to say. And The Witness was such an empty vessel - a technical tour de force that was flat and dead and full of frustration. The Looker is much more reverent to The Witness than it sounds (contains a literal love letter to "JB"), but it's there to make you laugh, and it does, and it gets off the stage in about 90 minutes.
