Reddit is largely garbage. Some bits of it are alright, but it has definitely gone downhill since Swartz passed.
At this point the only good forums I am aware of are this one and Bogleheads, apart from a few still-decent parts of reddit that aren't completely astroturfed by corporations or packed full of lower-level midwits (i.e. any subreddit with a subscriber count close to or over 500k).
Anyone else know of good places to read online?
- vin047 4y agoI’ve been trying [Lemmy](https://join-lemmy.org https://join-lemmy.org) for a while - it’s an open source, federated alternative to Reddit (and uses an interface similar to old.reddit.com). The main instance has a pretty heavy left bias, and like all less well known social media platforms, it suffers from a lack of content and engagement. But these are issues that can be tackled over time with more users joining the platform.
