I picked up a couple phones off Kijijji, $30 cash at seller's house. If you're handy, you can put in a new main board with obviously different IMEI. I'm not current with getting a prepaid sim;so can't comment knowledgeably. Initialise phone at public library, then power off. Leave phone powered off until at site when you need to record. Leave sim out of phone except when needed to communicate over cellular network.
