Illinois passes 642-page law to make a 1-word change – accident vs. crash
- eesmith 4y agoPlus change a few minor errors (a "9.4" to a "9.2", an added "the" before "Illinois Law Enforcement", some inserted commas), a couple of places where "his" hadn't been updated to "his or her", plus allow state agencies to exhaust current paper forms which have "accident". Huh. And "was involved in a motor vehicle, snowmobile, all-terrain vehicle, or watercraft accident" was changed to "was involved in a motor vehicle crash, or snowmobile, all-terrain vehicle, or watercraft accident", so it really is only supposed to affect automobile crashes.

And if you search through the document, you can see that this wasn't a search/replace exercise. They (or maybe a few interns) actually went through the entire body of law and only made changes to specific locations.
