While I may agree with the study's conclusions, the first line struck me as extremely biased and unscientific: "People who can afford luxury goods tend to buy them, and to show them off." In my experience, that's a crap shoot - some do, some don't. It also begs the question - what's a "luxury good" vs one that lasts longer, has more utility, etc?
