Garage-sized reactor could provide limitless energy with magnet-free technology
- ncmncm 4y agoThis is not obviously stupid, unlike most fusion and all Tokamak projects. To be useful, it will need to fuse 2H+3He or p+11B. The first is much easier, but has a problem with availability of 3He, also called helium-3, which is a decay product of tritium, 3H. (No, mining the moon is no help.) Tritium has to be manufactured by trapping neutrons, which of course needs abundant neutrons. The second depends only on abundant reactants, but is much, much harder to achieve.
