Why would those women go to a different country instead of a different state?
- GekkePrutser 4y agoBecause Roe Vs Wade was overturned federally wasn't it? So it applies in all states?
- _blz2 4y agoI'm not sure what 'overturned federally' means, but the decision shifts the matter of legality back to the states. There are tons of blue states where this is still legal.
- GekkePrutser 4y agoAha thanks, I was not aware of this. I'm not in the US (nor have I ever visited). But I saw some politicians in the news saying they wouldn't want to enforce it. So I assumed it was a law that all states had to obey. Sorry I was wrong.
- zeroonetwothree 4y agoOnly something like 20 states will have abortion illegal after this decision.
- Kye 4y agoThat "only" is doing a lot of work. https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2022/06/24/1107126432/abortion-bans-supreme-court-roe-v-wade https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2022/06/24/1107126... That's a lot of people and a lot of territory where you could be arrested traveling through if someone snitches.
