Essential Terms of the Authority Crisis
- jschveibinz 4y agoSome excellent observations here. Credentials are mostly meaningless, and we need a new system of continuous evaluation regardless of past achievements in all critical professional fields to really trust competence: medicine, engineering, law enforcement, legal, etc. A few additional and interesting data points to consider: 1. There are over 10,000 employees at the CDC (https://www.forbes.com/sites/adamandrzejewski/2020/02/29/10600-cdc-employees-earn-11-billion-annually/ https://www.forbes.com/sites/adamandrzejewski/2020/02/29/106...). 2. It has been reported that the CDC was poorly prepared to respond to a pandemic despite years of “planning” and “predicting” the coming storm. They provided false information (the use of masks) and false tests (https://www.npr.org/2020/11/06/929078678/cdc-report-officials-knew-coronavirus-test-was-flawed-but-released-it-anyway https://www.npr.org/2020/11/06/929078678/cdc-report-official...). 3. In general, it is reported that the majority of published medical research findings are false :(https://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/article?id=10.1371/journal.pmed.0020124 https://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/article?id=10.1371/jo...) 4. It is reported that over 250,000 deaths per year are attributable to medical error (https://www.sidgilreath.com/learn/medical-malpractice-death-statistics.html https://www.sidgilreath.com/learn/medical-malpractice-death-...)
