This argument falls over when the most popular apps on their store are YouTube, Google Maps, Instagram and TikTok.
They’re fine with “surveillance tools” if they get a cut.
- halostatue 4y agoApple does not "get a cut" of any of those free applications. Unless you consider the minimal $100 / year that Google has to pay to be "a cut".
- whywhywhywhy 4y agoDo they not get a cut of advertising?
- halostatue 4y agoNo, they do not. They only get advertising for ads that are shown in some applications (App Store, Apple News, one or two others).
- whywhywhywhy 4y agoThat's weird I mean it's still their platform and tooling they're using to make money by the logic of requiring subs and purchases to be taxed. Definitely should be getting a cut of the ads too.
