Mozilla’s has publicly stated in document to regulators that Apple’s browser engine ban delayed their entrance by 7 years and significantly impairs their ability to differentiate their browser. It’s not a stretch to tie that to the loss of market share on IOS and thus to their revenue.
If you think the assertion is misplaced you need explain why.

Competing against one of the worlds largest companies, that actively cross subsidize their nerfed browser and promote for it free at the worlds largest web property with misleading statements like "switch to a better browser"[1], all while regulators have been sleeping for a decade or more. 3.) The tech community who killed IE has not woken up to the dangers of Chrome. Just like IE used to be it looks good, is good enough, works everywhere etc. [1]: I've tried it multiple times and can confirm that it looks shiny but still cannot do TreeStyleTabs, and in general the whole extension system is nerfed to the point that most "extensions" I could find was either canned bookmarklets or canned web sites.
- daviddever23box 4y agoHave you used Thunderbird lately? Or looked at Firefox OS (now KaiOS) from an developer's perspective? Mozilla's issues lie deeper than the browser (again, also a Rust developer here) and belie any sort of leadership, technical or product-focused, over a large number of years. Self-asserting that they believe that they're being picked on, as a reason for rightsizing, is, in my opinion, merely an excuse for a host of other problems.
