This is an awesome concept -- I wonder if this would be even better as an artifact of the modeling rather than just the controller -- could dig people out of a lot of document-store shaped holes.
Have to admit I've never tried doing API migration in this way on a real project before!
- ezekg 4y agoI've found a lot of success with this migration concept for a normal Rails API app. It makes things like renaming or removing attributes a breeze. And I've also weathered some complex migrations -- changing has-one associations to has-manys, and moving attributes from 1 big resource into 3 smaller resources. All while keeping backwards-compatibility with clients on older API versions. It really is like magic!
