Narcissism and Conspiracy Beliefs
- pmdulaney 4y agoDoes narcissism (in either of the two variants identified) cause conservative group affiliation? If not -- that is, if narcissism is just as likely to present in individuals with liberal/progressive affiliation as in individuals with conservative group affiliation -- then we should observe roughly as many liberal/progressive conspiracy theories as conservative conspiracy theories. So if, for example, academia and the media overwhelmingly attribute conspiracies to those who have conservative group affiliations, it is reasonable to infer that liberal/progressive conspiracy theories are being granted a status of "normal and rational belief system" that more objective and disinterested gatekeepers would not grant.
