  I can't agree here. The examples the author used to describe the various smart automation usescases of needing a camera could easily be achieved with mm-Wave radar sensors[1] which give you the advantages of optical privacy. Cameras as sensors offer the "benefit" of surveillance for corporations, governments and hackers. I hope his dream doesn't pan out.     Radar is still a camera just limited to a very narrow part of the electromagnetic spectrum.

  Very short-sighted take, seems to me that author played some cyberpunk and found out that small cameras exist and wanted to tell someone about it.
