- christophilus 4y agoWhat products do you use? I use iOS, Duck Duck Go, Fastmail, Neovim + markdown + git for nearly all my docs, Brave and Firefox. YouTube is the one Google product I haven’t been able to drop. Odysee isn’t there. As I write this, though, I realize that I mostly use YouTube as an inexpensive music service. I could easily switch to Spotify or something else, and probably will.

- christophilus 4y agoThere are no ads for me (uBlock or Brave). That’s what I was realizing as I typed: I use YouTube as a background noise (low fi beats) while working. I’m using it for free, and the artists get nothing. I think I need to buy a reasonable alternative.
- night-rider 4y agoBrave browser as a replacement for Chrome/Chromium is a good start. Startpage for Google-like results if you miss Google. Kagi Search if you want good results sans tracking that you pay for with you know, a thing called…money. GrapheneOS for a privacy-respecting phone sans Google bloat and tracking.
