Long ago I thought Twitter was interesting, though at the moment I'm unable to precisely state why I thought so. I think it was perhaps the simplicity. Twitter seemed feature-complete a long time ago. Handle scaling problems and the odd bugfixes, and you're good. Sometimes I wonder what all their many thousands of engineers do all day. (I understand they probably still need plenty of non-engineers to handle legal/compliance requirements etc of different countries.)
