I've never understood the reasoning behind this. Creativity can't be forced. The books and world are a product of GRRM's thoughts and state of mind. If you have someone else write it, or push him to hurry against his desire, the end product just won't be the same. I'd rather get nothing than a book coaxed into existence or written by someone else.
