Still, Stine was not writing anything special. He had a formula and followed it. I think it is a question of productivity. I do think some of Sanderson’s series are tightly edited and others he lets things bloat a bit (Stormlight Archive, sigh).
- potta_coffee 4y agoStormlight specifically suffers from massive bloating. I've been curious if it's a condition of his success - he's not editing / being edited as stringently because he knows his books will sell? Or maybe worse, the books are bloated to fit the "mega fantasy" niche. I've tried to like the books and they have some neat ideas in them, but the reading feels too abusive.
