You think Brave paying users to view ads and doing machine learning locally is worse than Google tracking you and showing you ads?
- endisneigh 4y agoYou think Google giving small businesses a chance to reach their 2 billion plus users is worse than giving people volatile internet points? Where do you think the money comes from? At least Bing gave people legit cash.
- dubswithus 4y agoThe money comes from advertisers. The advertisers pay Brave and then Brave buys BAT off the open market to distribute to users.
- endisneigh 4y agoA similar logic can be applied to Google - money comes from advertisers which allows users to use search, gmail, maps, etc for free.
- dubswithus 4y agoI prefer to be paid with a revenue share. It's a better deal for me.
- endisneigh 4y agoIt’s good to have options, indeed.
- cbm-vic-20 4y ago"I reject your ads and substitute them with my own!"
- dubswithus 4y agoBlock ads and display opt-in ads as notifications. It's not a substitution or replacement.
- tomrod 4y agoThey are, because both are advertisements.
- dubswithus 4y agoIt's not the same thing. You can have one without the other.
- prepend 4y agoThere’s good ads and bad ads. I don’t reject to ads so much as I reject the tracking and profiling that goes into most ads. I’m perfectly happy with ads in magazines. I don’t like ads based on my search history that follow me from pc to phone to Alexa to tv to other PCs.
- smoldesu 4y agoYes. Nowadays I rate projects based on their proximity to cryptocurrency, so I certainly wouldn't pre-install it in my browser.
