In my experience at a BigCorp in a conservative part of Europe, Devops was a pure cargo cult and managerial buzzword. When I worked there, we were a regular ops teams, with a dev team in another country. They provided the software, our infra guys provided the hardware, we provided the support and operations management. Then our company adopted DevOps, which meant re-labelling the ops team as DevOps team and taking on some basic responsibilities. Nothing really changed, but now we were using DevOps so we were in lockstep with the competition, right?
