Facebook is changing its algorithm to take on TikTok, leaked memo reveals
- hansword 4y ago> rather than prioritize posts from accounts people follow, Facebook’s main feed will, like TikTok, start heavily recommending posts regardless of where they come from To get updates from my channel, subscribe, ring the bell, click the exclamation mark next to the bell, and then choose "prioritise updates from this account".
- throwaway4good 4y agoQuite an interesting article. Shows the problem of taking what seems like a good, maybe naive idea from a top down perspective: "TikTok is gaining popularity. Let's be more like TikTok." And then pushing it down into actual implementation where it is obvious that fast-moving, pseudonymous, share-everything TikTok is quite a different beast than Facebook.

- james-redwood 4y agoI see this as a negative, considering that TikTok's algorithm is nothing short of digital crack.
- danamit 4y agoTikTok recommend content based on attractiveness. There is a couple of accounts that use the same attractive face in totally unrelated videos, like 1 second of it, in all their videos just to bait the algorithm and it works.
