It's a cloud storage service, –like Dropbox, Google Drive etc– for regular people and businesses.
Their value proposition, is providing client-side encryption to their customers so they can protect their data in-transit and at rest. MEGA's job is to make it as unlikely as possible, and as expensive as possible for a threat actor to successfully thwart their value proposition. Vulnerabilities will always be discovered. Blessed practices will be superseded. This is normal.
In the consumer/end-user space, their storage to price ratio is great. Not counting plain mass storage filesystems for enterprise/development, I still hasn't found something better.
