this was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative read. I'm just old enough to have been around for the 90s Amway stuff and although I'd heard a bit about it I was never exposed to it directly. the author does a great job here of laying out his perspective on things and the
Amway : Christianity = web3 : crypto
analogy is an interesting one.
- siliconpotato 4y agoThe individualistic capitalist greed at the core of Amway is really the underlying fundamental though, and quite far from the message of Christianity- they abused some cherry-picked scriptures to try to align themselves with a cultural psyche. I wonder what methods they use in India?
- adamrezich 4y agothat's what I meant, that Amway hijacked Christianity, in the same way that web3 hijacked "crypto" (cryptocurrency and by extension cryptography).
